Charlotte’s best eyelift surgeon helps stop the aging clock

Charlotte’s best eyelift surgeon insists that patients review everything about eyelid surgery before making a decision. Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is the removal of excess skin from the upper or lower eyelids. Its goal is to foster a younger appearance by refreshing the tissue around the eyes and creating a more rested look.

Upper and lower eyelid surgery

A blepharoplasty can concentrate on the upper or lower eyelids, or both. The former is ideal for those who have excess skin over the eyes, often resulting in an aging look. Similarly, the latter suits patients with puffy, droopy bags under the eyes that may make them look old and tired all the time. Your plastic surgeon will examine your eyes and upper face before recommending either or both of the procedures.

What to know about eyelid surgery

No two eyelid surgeries are similar

Since everyone’s eyes are different, no two eyelid surgeries will be similar. The surgeon will tailor your procedure to your goals and eye features for optimal results. But choosing the right surgeon can’t be emphasized enough. They must understand what the ‘ideal eye’ looks like, eyelid function and architecture, and consider gender and ethnic differences.

What eyelid surgery incorporates

The upper or lower eyelid surgery can be performed in the office or operating room based on the complexity. They can be done with mild sensation or local aesthetics. Typically, the plastic surgeon will mark the eyelid crease and outline and measure the skin to be cut away. After administering a local anesthetic, the surgeon will use a fine scalpel and electrocautery to remove the extra skin care. Just enough skin will be removed to result in a natural and youthful appearance as removing excess skin could result in the eyelid closing. When it comes to the lower eyelids, the surgeon will make small incisions to remove or reposition fat for a more natural contour under the eyelids. Sagging skin can be removed, and/or the lower eyelid muscles tightened. The specialist will then close the incisions using dissolvable sutures after ascertaining the eyes are symmetrical.

Results to expect

As expected, results will always vary. But you should look forward to tighter, brighter, and more open eyes. While results can often be subtle, they will be striking. You should look natural but more rested and alert and younger. You will notice a difference in your eyelids after surgery, although swelling and bruising can hide the outcome. Patients can go back to work within one to two weeks, but the swelling could take a month or more to fade. You may start seeing final results after four to six weeks.

Risks to eyelid surgeries

You may experience minor side effects that include temporary double or blurred vision, temporary swelling and bruising around the upper eye, and small bumps along the incisions. More adverse complications include asymmetry, dry eyes, and trouble closing the eyes.

Ideal candidates

The procedure is ideal for men and women who notice aging in their face. This includes drooping eyelids or bags under the eyes. There’s no specific or preferred age when the surgery should be performed. But candidates should be non-smokers and be in good health.
