Endoscopic brow lift vs. traditional brow lift: what’s the difference?

An endoscopic brow lift and a traditional brow lift are options for Charlotte NC and surrounding area patients who are feeling dissatisfied with their eyebrows when looking in the mirror. This can be due to drooping skin around the brow area. The two options are used to restore a more youthful appearance and will keep your brows from prematurely aging.

Brow lift surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures for patients who are between the ages of 40-60. Due to this high demand, the plastic surgery field continues to develop two options, an endoscopic lift, and a traditional lift. But what is the difference between the two procedures?

Traditional brow lift

During a traditional brow lift procedure, an incision is made behind the hairline that will go along the top of the patient’s head and extend all the way down to the temporal area. Full visual access is gained from the longer incision so the surgeon can make the needed changes. To make the forehead area smoother, the surgeon will remove excess skin and lift the eyebrows to a position that appears more youthful, the remaining tissues will then be pulled tight. A more youthful and rested appearance to the upper face will be achieved through this procedure when the surgeon corrects forehead lines and drooping brows.

Endoscopic lift

Named after the essential tool that is used during the procedure called an endoscope, an endoscopic lift is a minimally invasive technique that comes with a number of advantages.

Rather than creating a longer incision, an endoscopic lift only needs a small one-inch-long incision that is made above the hairline in the scalp. The endoscope is then used to help the surgeon make the incisions to separate the skin and muscles in order to make adjustments to create the lift appearance. Afterward, metal posts are used to secure the forehead, these posts are removed ten days after the procedure.

Benefits of an endoscopic lift

Undergoing an endoscopic lift rather than the traditional procedure has a number of benefits, including:

Less scarring: The incisions made during the procedure are small and well-concealed, meaning that they won’t be as noticeable.

Fewer complications: The risk of infections and a wound that is healing poorly are reduced due to the smaller incision.

Greater healing experience: The healing experienced by patients is quicker when compared to the traditional procedure.
